Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Supply Chain & Materials Manager to manage raw material sourcing, inventory planning, and end-to-end coordination between procurement, production, and logistics functions. This role is critical in ensuring uninterrupted manufacturing operations through efficient material availability, cost control, and optimized inventory management.
The Supply Chain & Materials Manager will be responsible for aligning supply chain strategies with production requirements, minimizing material shortages and excess inventory, and improving overall supply chain efficiency. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, hands-on coordination with suppliers and internal teams, and a deep understanding of manufacturing supply chain dynamics.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience in manufacturing environments, strong planning skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while maintaining operational discipline and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Raw Material Procurement & Sourcing
• Manage procurement of raw materials, components, and consumables required for manufacturing operations
• Develop sourcing strategies to ensure reliable supply, competitive pricing, and quality compliance
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers in line with company standards
• Negotiate contracts, pricing agreements, and delivery terms with suppliers
Inventory Planning & Control
• Plan and manage inventory levels to support production schedules and demand forecasts
• Ensure optimal balance between material availability and working capital efficiency
• Reduce stock-outs, excess inventory, and obsolete materials
• Monitor inventory turnover, aging stock, and warehouse utilization
Production Support & Coordination
• Coordinate closely with production planning teams to align material availability with manufacturing schedules
• Support demand forecasting and production planning processes
• Ensure timely availability of materials to avoid production delays or downtime
• Participate in production planning and review meetings
Supplier & Vendor Management
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure consistent quality, delivery performance, and cost control
• Monitor vendor performance against agreed KPIs
• Resolve supply disruptions, quality issues, and delivery delays proactively
• Conduct supplier performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
Logistics & Warehouse Coordination
• Coordinate with logistics partners to manage inbound transportation and deliveries
• Optimize warehouse layout, storage practices, and material handling processes
• Ensure efficient receiving, storage, and issuance of materials
• Improve warehouse space utilization and material flow
Cost Control & Efficiency Improvement
• Monitor material costs, freight charges, and inventory holding costs
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities through process improvements and supplier negotiations
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost analysis for supply chain activities
• Ensure procurement and inventory activities align with approved budgets
Quality & Compliance
• Ensure raw materials and components meet quality standards and technical specifications
• Coordinate with quality teams on inspections, rejections, and corrective actions
• Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements
• Maintain accurate documentation related to materials, suppliers, and contracts
ERP, Systems & Data Management
• Use ERP and inventory management systems to track materials, orders, and stock levels
• Ensure accuracy of master data, transactions, and reporting
• Support system improvements to enhance supply chain visibility and control
• Train team members on system usage and best practices
Reporting & Performance Monitoring
• Prepare supply chain, inventory, and materials performance reports for management
• Track KPIs such as inventory turnover, material availability, lead times, and cost performance
• Analyze trends and provide actionable insights and recommendations
• Support management reviews and operational decision-making
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work closely with procurement, production, quality, finance, and logistics teams
• Support continuous improvement initiatives across supply chain and manufacturing operations
• Communicate risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities to stakeholders
• Act as a key link between suppliers and internal manufacturing teams
Qualifications & Educational Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field
• Professional certifications in supply chain or materials management are an advantage
• Strong understanding of manufacturing supply chain processes and inventory control principles
Experience Requirements
• Minimum 6 years of experience in supply chain or materials management within a manufacturing environment
• Proven experience managing raw materials, components, and production-related inventory
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems and inventory management tools
• Exposure to lean manufacturing, MRP, or production planning processes is an advantage
• Experience working with multiple suppliers and logistics partners
