Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Registered Nurse to provide high-quality, patient-centered nursing care within a hospital or clinical healthcare setting in Muscat, Oman. This role plays a vital part in supporting physicians, ensuring patient safety, monitoring clinical progress, and delivering professional nursing care in accordance with hospital policies, clinical protocols, and international healthcare standards.
The Registered Nurse will be responsible for delivering direct patient care, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, assisting during medical procedures, and maintaining accurate clinical documentation. You will work closely with physicians, specialists, allied health professionals, and nursing leadership to ensure continuity of care and positive patient outcomes.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical competence, excellent communication skills, and a genuine commitment to patient well-being while being able to function effectively in a fast-paced, shift-based hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
Direct Patient Care
• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in accordance with physician orders and nursing care plans
• Assess patient conditions, record medical histories, and perform physical assessments
• Monitor vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and oxygen saturation
• Observe and document changes in patient condition and promptly report concerns
Medication Administration & Treatment Support
• Administer medications safely and accurately as per physician prescriptions
• Ensure correct dosage, route, timing, and documentation of medications
• Monitor patients for medication side effects or adverse reactions
• Administer IV fluids, injections, and other prescribed treatments
• Ensure safe storage and handling of medications
Clinical Procedures & Physician Support
• Assist doctors during examinations, procedures, and minor surgeries
• Prepare patients for diagnostic tests, procedures, and treatments
• Maintain sterile fields and follow infection control protocols
• Support emergency procedures and respond effectively during critical situations
• Operate and monitor medical equipment relevant to patient care
Patient Monitoring & Recovery
• Continuously monitor patient recovery and progress
• Provide post-operative care and observe for complications
• Track intake and output, wound healing, and pain levels
• Identify early warning signs and escalate clinical concerns promptly
• Support rehabilitation and recovery processes
Patient Education & Family Communication
• Educate patients and families on diagnoses, treatment plans, and medications
• Provide guidance on post-discharge care, lifestyle modifications, and follow-up appointments
• Promote patient understanding, comfort, and compliance
• Respond to patient and family questions with empathy and clarity
Documentation & Medical Records
• Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records
• Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses
• Ensure compliance with electronic medical record (EMR) systems
• Support audits, handovers, and clinical reporting requirements
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with healthcare regulations
Infection Control & Patient Safety
• Follow infection prevention and control protocols strictly
• Maintain hygiene, handwashing, and PPE standards
• Ensure patient safety through fall prevention and risk assessments
• Report incidents, near misses, and safety concerns
• Participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness programs
Compliance with Policies & Standards
• Adhere to hospital policies, nursing protocols, and ethical standards
• Ensure compliance with national nursing regulations and licensing requirements
• Follow clinical guidelines, SOPs, and accreditation standards
• Support quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
• Maintain professional conduct at all times
Team Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Care
• Work collaboratively with doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals
• Participate in shift handovers, case discussions, and ward rounds
• Support teamwork and continuity of patient care
• Communicate effectively across departments and shifts
• Contribute positively to a respectful and professional work environment
Emergency Response & Critical Care Support
• Respond promptly to medical emergencies and code situations
• Provide first aid, CPR, and emergency interventions as required
• Assist in stabilization and transfer of critically ill patients
• Follow emergency response protocols and escalation procedures
• Remain calm and effective under pressure
Professional Development & Training
• Participate in ongoing nursing education and clinical training
• Maintain nursing licensure, certifications, and competencies
• Attend mandatory training sessions and workshops
• Support quality audits and clinical reviews
• Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning and improvement
Requirements & Educational Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Nursing from a recognized institution
• Valid nursing license (DHA / HAAD / MOH / Oman Medical Specialty Board or equivalent)
• Current registration and eligibility to practice as a Registered Nurse
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• Advanced certifications (ACLS, PALS) are an advantage
Experience Requirements
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a hospital or clinical healthcare setting
• Experience in medical, surgical, emergency, ICU, or specialty units is an advantage
• Experience working in shift-based and high-pressure environments
• Exposure to electronic medical records and modern clinical systems
• GCC healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory
