Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and operationally strong Transport & Fleet Manager to manage company-owned and outsourced vehicle fleets while ensuring safe, cost-effective, and on-time transportation operations. This role is responsible for route planning, fleet maintenance oversight, driver coordination, cost optimization, and compliance with transport and safety regulations.

The Transport & Fleet Manager will play a critical role in supporting business operations by ensuring efficient movement of goods, minimizing delivery delays, controlling transport costs, and maintaining high safety standards across all transport activities. The role requires strong coordination skills, hands-on operational leadership, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders, including drivers, vendors, and internal teams.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in fleet operations, logistics coordination, and transport compliance within a structured and performance-driven environment.


Key Responsibilities

Transport Operations & Route Planning

• Manage daily transport operations to ensure timely and efficient deliveries
• Plan and optimize delivery routes to reduce transit time, fuel consumption, and operating costs
• Ensure adherence to delivery schedules and service-level commitments
• Respond proactively to operational challenges such as delays, route disruptions, or vehicle breakdowns

Fleet Management & Maintenance Oversight

• Oversee company-owned and outsourced vehicle fleets
• Ensure regular vehicle maintenance, servicing, and fitness for operation
• Monitor vehicle availability and utilization to support operational requirements
• Coordinate with maintenance teams and service providers to minimize vehicle downtime

Driver Management & Scheduling

• Coordinate driver allocation, duty rosters, and shift scheduling
• Ensure drivers comply with company policies, safety rules, and legal driving requirements
• Monitor driver performance, attendance, and adherence to routes and schedules
• Support driver training, discipline, and performance improvement initiatives

Fuel Management & Cost Control

• Monitor fuel consumption and fuel efficiency across the fleet
• Implement fuel control measures to reduce wastage and improve efficiency
• Analyze fuel data and identify opportunities for cost savings
• Control overall transport operating costs in line with approved budgets

Compliance, Safety & Regulatory Requirements

• Ensure compliance with local transport laws, vehicle regulations, and safety standards
• Monitor vehicle documentation, permits, insurance, and compliance certificates
• Promote safe driving practices and ensure adherence to HSE requirements
• Investigate transport-related incidents, accidents, and near-misses

Vendor & Outsourced Fleet Management

• Manage relationships with transport vendors and third-party fleet providers
• Negotiate service agreements, rates, and performance expectations
• Monitor vendor performance against KPIs such as delivery time, vehicle condition, and safety compliance
• Resolve vendor-related issues and escalations

Delivery Performance & Issue Resolution

• Track delivery performance and ensure customer commitments are met
• Handle delivery issues, escalations, and service failures
• Coordinate with internal teams to resolve operational challenges
• Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence of delivery issues

KPI Monitoring & Performance Analysis

• Monitor transport KPIs including on-time delivery, vehicle utilization, fuel efficiency, and cost per trip
• Analyze transport performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Implement operational improvements based on performance insights
• Support continuous improvement initiatives within transport operations

Budgeting & Cost Management

• Prepare and manage transport budgets and operating costs
• Monitor expenses related to fuel, maintenance, vendors, and fleet operations
• Identify and implement cost optimization initiatives
• Ensure transport operations remain cost-effective without compromising service quality

Reporting & Management Communication

• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly transport performance and cost reports
• Provide operational updates and insights to management
• Highlight risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities
• Support management decision-making with accurate transport data


Qualifications & Educational Requirements

• Degree or diploma in Logistics, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or a related field
• Additional training in fleet management or transport operations is an advantage
• Strong understanding of transport operations and fleet management practices


Experience Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of experience in transport operations or fleet management
• Proven experience managing company-owned and outsourced vehicle fleets
• Hands-on experience with route planning, driver coordination, and cost control
• Strong exposure to compliance, safety, and vehicle regulatory requirements
• Experience working in logistics, distribution, or operations-driven environments
