Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-oriented Hospital Administrator to lead the overall management and operational efficiency of a large multi-specialty healthcare facility in Doha, Qatar. This senior leadership role is responsible for ensuring smooth day-to-day hospital operations, regulatory compliance, financial sustainability, and high standards of patient care across all clinical and non-clinical departments.
The Hospital Administrator will serve as the central operational leader of the hospital, overseeing medical, nursing, diagnostics, facilities, finance, HR, IT, and support services. Working closely with clinical leadership and senior management, you will translate strategic objectives into operational excellence while ensuring patient safety, service quality, and cost-effective healthcare delivery.
This role requires a strong leader who can balance clinical priorities with administrative discipline, financial management, and regulatory compliance in a complex and highly regulated healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Overall Hospital Operations Leadership
• Oversee and manage all day-to-day hospital operations across clinical, nursing, and support services
• Ensure seamless coordination between medical, administrative, and operational departments
• Establish clear operational priorities aligned with hospital strategy and patient care objectives
• Act as the senior operational authority for hospital administration
Strategic Planning & Operational Excellence
• Develop and implement operational strategies to support hospital growth and sustainability
• Translate hospital vision and goals into actionable operational plans
• Drive operational efficiency, productivity improvement, and cost optimization initiatives
• Support service line development and expansion of clinical services
Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation
• Ensure full compliance with national healthcare regulations, licensing requirements, and safety standards
• Lead hospital compliance with accreditation bodies (JCI, QCHP, ISO, or equivalent)
• Prepare the hospital for inspections, audits, and accreditation surveys
• Ensure policies, SOPs, and documentation meet regulatory and accreditation requirements
• Maintain high standards of governance, ethics, and compliance
Financial Management & Budget Control
• Develop, manage, and monitor hospital budgets and financial plans
• Oversee cost control, expense management, and revenue optimization initiatives
• Monitor key financial indicators including operating margins, cost per patient, and revenue streams
• Work closely with finance teams to ensure financial stability and transparency
• Support capital planning, investment proposals, and cost-benefit analysis
Departmental Coordination & Leadership
• Coordinate with department heads to optimize workflows and service delivery
• Ensure alignment between clinical priorities and operational resources
• Conduct regular operational reviews and performance meetings
• Resolve cross-departmental issues affecting patient flow and service quality
• Support department leaders in achieving performance and quality targets
Patient Experience & Service Quality
• Monitor patient satisfaction scores, feedback, and complaint trends
• Lead initiatives to improve patient experience and service quality
• Ensure patient-centered care models are implemented across the hospital
• Oversee grievance handling, escalation management, and service recovery processes
• Promote a culture of compassion, professionalism, and patient safety
Human Resources & Workforce Management
• Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance evaluation of administrative staff
• Support workforce planning for non-clinical and support departments
• Promote staff engagement, development, and retention
• Ensure fair, compliant, and performance-driven HR practices
• Support leadership development and succession planning
Clinical & Non-Clinical Support Services Oversight
• Oversee non-clinical functions including facilities, biomedical engineering, housekeeping, security, transport, and procurement
• Ensure infrastructure, equipment, and support services meet clinical needs
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and facility management programs
• Ensure uninterrupted hospital operations and emergency preparedness
External Stakeholder & Government Liaison
• Liaise with government authorities, healthcare regulators, and accreditation bodies
• Coordinate with insurance providers, TPAs, and corporate clients
• Represent the hospital in external meetings, forums, and negotiations
• Maintain strong relationships with vendors, partners, and service providers
Hospital Growth & Expansion Initiatives
• Drive hospital growth initiatives including new services, clinics, and programs
• Support marketing and business development teams with operational readiness
• Identify opportunities for service diversification and capacity expansion
• Support feasibility studies, operational planning, and implementation of new projects
Risk Management, Safety & Quality Assurance
• Ensure hospital-wide risk management and patient safety programs are in place
• Monitor incidents, near misses, and safety metrics
• Implement corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensure compliance with infection control, fire safety, and emergency protocols
Performance Monitoring & Reporting
• Prepare detailed operational, financial, and compliance reports for senior leadership
• Track KPIs related to efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction
• Analyze performance trends and recommend improvement actions
• Support executive decision-making with accurate and timely data
Policy Development & Governance
• Develop and implement hospital policies, procedures, and operational benchmarks
• Ensure consistent application of policies across departments
• Support governance committees and leadership reviews
• Maintain transparency, accountability, and operational discipline
Required Qualifications & Educational Background
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Healthcare Management, Hospital Administration, Public Health, or a related field
• Advanced qualifications in healthcare administration or business management are an advantage
• Strong understanding of hospital operations, healthcare regulations, and patient care systems
Experience Requirements
• Minimum 8 years of experience in senior healthcare administration roles
• Proven experience managing operations of large hospitals or multi-specialty healthcare facilities
• Strong exposure to healthcare regulations, accreditation, and compliance frameworks
• Experience working with clinical leadership and multidisciplinary teams
• GCC healthcare experience is highly preferred
