Job Overview

We are seeking a technically strong, detail-oriented, and proactive Site Engineer to supervise and coordinate on-site construction activities for building projects in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates. This role is responsible for ensuring that construction works are executed accurately, safely, and in full compliance with approved drawings, specifications, BOQs, and project schedules.

The Site Engineer will act as a key link between project managers, consultants, subcontractors, and site teams. You will be responsible for technical execution, daily site supervision, quality control, coordination of materials and manpower, and timely reporting of progress and issues.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in building construction, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage site challenges efficiently while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity.


Key Responsibilities

Site Supervision & Execution

• Supervise daily construction activities on-site to ensure work is executed as per approved drawings and specifications
• Monitor ongoing works including civil, structural, architectural, and finishing activities
• Ensure adherence to construction methodologies, sequencing, and schedules
• Identify technical issues and coordinate timely resolution
• Ensure smooth day-to-day site operations

Drawings, Specifications & BOQs

• Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and BOQs accurately
• Ensure site teams and subcontractors fully understand technical requirements
• Identify discrepancies between drawings, BOQs, and site conditions
• Raise RFIs (Requests for Information) when clarification is required
• Support implementation of approved revisions and design changes

Coordination with Contractors & Suppliers

• Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure proper execution of assigned works
• Monitor subcontractor performance, productivity, and workmanship
• Coordinate delivery and availability of construction materials
• Ensure materials used on-site comply with approved specifications
• Liaise with suppliers to support timely delivery and site requirements

Quality Control & Assurance

• Monitor quality of work at all construction stages
• Ensure works comply with project quality standards and approved methods
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks
• Identify defects and ensure corrective actions are implemented
• Support quality audits and inspections

Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance

• Ensure compliance with project safety policies and procedures
• Enforce use of PPE and safe work practices
• Coordinate with HSE officers to address safety concerns
• Ensure site activities comply with local safety regulations
• Support incident prevention and safe site operations

Site Inspections & Consultant Coordination

• Assist consultants during site inspections and technical reviews
• Ensure works are ready for inspection and approval
• Address consultant comments and non-conformance reports (NCRs)
• Coordinate closure of inspection comments and approvals
• Maintain inspection records and approvals

Progress Monitoring & Reporting

• Track daily site progress against approved schedules
• Prepare daily and weekly progress reports
• Highlight delays, constraints, and site issues
• Support preparation of look-ahead schedules and work plans
• Provide accurate site data to project management

Material Management & Site Logistics

• Monitor material usage and minimize wastage
• Ensure proper storage and handling of construction materials
• Verify material quantities against drawings and BOQs
• Support inventory tracking and site logistics planning
• Ensure materials are available to meet construction schedules

Technical Problem Solving

• Identify and resolve technical challenges on-site
• Propose practical construction solutions in coordination with senior engineers
• Support value engineering initiatives where applicable
• Assist in resolving clashes, constructability issues, and design constraints
• Ensure technical decisions are documented and approved

Documentation & Record Keeping

• Maintain daily site records, reports, and technical documentation
• Ensure proper filing of drawings, approvals, and correspondence
• Support preparation of as-built drawings and handover documentation
• Maintain records of inspections, tests, and approvals
• Ensure documentation supports claims, variations, and audits

Coordination with Project Management

• Work closely with Project Managers and Senior Engineers
• Support planning, scheduling, and execution strategies
• Escalate critical site issues in a timely manner
• Assist in cost control and resource optimization efforts
• Support achievement of project milestones and targets

Testing & Commissioning Support

• Assist in coordination of material testing and inspections
• Ensure test results meet project specifications
• Support commissioning and handover activities
• Coordinate rectification of defects during snagging
• Support final inspections and project close-out

Continuous Improvement & Best Practices

• Follow construction best practices and standards
• Suggest improvements to site processes and execution methods
• Support implementation of lessons learned
• Maintain a professional and disciplined site environment
• Promote teamwork and coordination on-site


Qualifications & Educational Requirements

• Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering or a related field
• Strong foundation in construction engineering principles
• Knowledge of building construction practices and standards


Experience Requirements

• 4–6 years of experience in building construction projects
• Hands-on site supervision experience with contractors and subcontractors
• Experience working on residential, commercial, or mixed-use buildings
• Exposure to concrete, finishing, and structural works
• GCC construction experience is an advantage


Skills & Competencies

• Strong technical and engineering knowledge
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and BOQs
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Strong organizational and reporting abilities
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in MS Office and basic engineering software
• English communication required; Arabic is a plus
• Team-oriented with a proactive attitude
